First day of spring snow!

We had a freaky winter season in north Texas this year.  On the first day of Spring we were snowed on, not just some flurries or a dusting, we were DUMPED on!  The measurements around the area ranged from 7-9 inches.

The kids had a taste of the warmer spring weather and were less than impressed with the spring snow :)

Happy St Patty's Day 2010

In my attempt to catch up I don't want to miss any days that have fun memories.  On St Patrick's day 2010 we went to the park with friends.  The kids had fun green food to eat and a "pie" eating contest with the chance to find a gold coin at the bottom of the bowl.  It's a great day to be Irish :)

After the pie eating contest there was a treasure hunt for the kids.  First the littlies got to go.  Finn found lots of stickers, tattoos and little toys!

After the little ones had their turn it was time for the big kids, we braced ourselves for the stampede!!

It took maybe 60 seconds for the big kids to find everything, they were fast, too fast to catch pictures of them!!

It was a fun St Patty's Day!

Owen turned 12

over a month ago but a day I want to document, regardless of how long it took me to get my act together!

Owen chose to have a friend sleepover for his birthday, they stayed up way too late playing video games :)

This wasn't on his actual birthday so we had cupcakes to celebrate, he chose sparkler candles and Finn got a lot of joy watching Owen try to blow them out without them sparking up again!

Colouring pasta - part 1

For my co-op class this week we were learning about birds, reading some story books and for the craft  thought the kids could just glue coloured pasta onto pictures of birds.  I have had a lot of trouble keeping their attention so I figured, keep it simple and give them glue to mess with.  Well it went OK, not great, they got bored and moved on but that is to be expected of 3-5 year olds.

Here is the pasta as I took it through the colouring process.  It was very easy, just added about a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol to a baggy of pasta and then added the food colouring, squished it around, left it in there for about 15 mins and then layed it out to dry on wax paper.

Poor Finn was sick with a cold so he missed co-op, I'll post pics of his creations when we get a chance to sit down and make something!!

WOW I get so behind, but every photo I take is important to me.  I know blogging isn't supposed to be done in clumps like this but really when I have the time I have the time and I don't want to forget any part of my life with my family.  We spent a beautiful day at the park on Tuesday 9th March.

Spring Soccer season is here!!

All three big kids are on teams.  Madeleine and Owen changed teams this season, Mads by choice and Owen had to because his old team didn't exist anymore :(

Three games and three losses....yikes!  They all had fun though.  I only have pictures of M and O's games because Campbells game conflicted.  Since Jeremy coaches his team I stayed with the big kids.
